Andrea Kenny
Leadership. Change. Capability. Helping leaders navigate change, build capability and deliver better outcomes.
About Andrea
For more than 20 years, I have worked with leaders and organisations to build capability, navigate change and turn leadership ideas into practical action.
I am the founder of Andrea Kenny Consulting, where I work with public and private sector leaders across Australia.
My work sits at the intersection of three things:
LEADERSHIP — developing confident, capable leaders who can influence, make decisions and lead people effectively.
CHANGE — helping leaders navigate uncertainty, resistance, change fatigue and organisational transformation.
CAPABILITY — designing practical leadership programs that translate learning into workplace behaviour.
I particularly enjoy working with organisations that are going through change and asking:
- What do our leaders need to do differently?
- What capabilities will become critical?
- How do we maintain performance while everything around us is changing?
- How do we have the conversations people may be avoiding?
- How do we turn leadership development into something that actually changes behaviour?
I design and facilitate leadership programs, workshops, strategic conversations and development experiences for emerging, aspiring and established leaders.
I also provide executive coaching and facilitation for leaders working through complex organisational and stakeholder challenges.
Leadership. Change. Capability.
20 lessons I have learnt
- Leadership isn’t about having all the answers.
- People don’t resist change for the reasons we assume.
- Difficult conversations become harder when you delay them.
- Resilience isn’t unlimited.
- Stakeholder management is not stakeholder leadership.
- Experienced employees are an organisational asset.
- Good facilitation can change the quality of a decision.
- Capability development needs context.
- Leaders need to manage themselves before they can lead others.
- Change fatigue is real.
- Trust is built in small moments.
- Influence matters more as you become more senior.
- Psychological safety doesn’t mean avoiding accountability.
- Leadership development needs application.
- The best leadership development happens when people connect insight to action.
- The best leaders create clarity when things are uncertain.
- You can’t change an organisation without understanding its culture.
- Sometimes the most valuable leadership intervention is simply asking a better question.
- Change is easier when people understand the “why”, not just the “what”.
- Leadership is ultimately about the impact you leave on other people

How It Works
The programs are designed to be interesting and will always include a mix of relevant information and activities with time dedicated to asking questions and discussion. The programs are an excellent opportunity for networking with employees in a safe and supportive environment. This forum allows for participants to have a greater awareness of current issues and challenges being faced by the workgroups and opportunities to be solution focussed in overcoming them.
Training can be delivered on your premises in the boardroom or as part of a development opportunity at a team meeting, offsite or conference setting. Programs can be customised to suit your needs and the needs of the participants.
“Thank you for leading us through a great couple of days Andrea. With excellent outcomes achieved and an inspiring presentation from Natalie Cook… alongside some friendly team competition, it was a hugely successful offsite!”

Proud to celebrate the impact of the DTET Regional Aspiring Leaders Program. It’s been an honour to design and deliver this year-long program. A practical, evidence-based leadership program covering Leading Self, Leading Teams and Leading Organisations. We supported emerging leaders across regional Queensland to grow their confidence, strengthen their leadership capability, and build the future talent pipeline for the public sector.
After seeing the transformation in our latest cohort, I’m excited to open conversations with other government agencies and private sector organisations who want to invest in their emerging talent.
Here’s what participants had to say:
✨ “Andrea was wonderful — understanding, thought-provoking, supportive, balanced and relatable.”
✨ “You called me out, kept me engaged, created a safe space and promoted growth.”
✨ “An amazing facilitator — I don’t think anyone else could have done better.”
✨ “The program accelerated my professional development by years.”
✨ “The peer networks, mentoring and practical discussions were invaluable.”
✨ “The connections across the region — and my buddy group — were incredibly supportive and fun.”
“Youngcare had been making great progress but the introduction of the NDIS provided a new challenge and opportunity to redirect our vision. As the newly appointed CEO, I wanted to make sure we had the right tools to become effective leaders in this space. Thanks to Andrea’s strategic facilitation we were able to clearly define and create steps to deliver on both short term and long term objectives. She was the catalyst to conversation and provided moments of wisdom to keep us moving forward. Post strategy results were evident in the organisations newly found energy as well as an increase in corporate and donor engagement. I would highly recommend Andrea’s ability to plan and facilitate an effective strategy planning process to help create growth in what you are trying to achieve.”
